“To Love, To Learn, To Live”
We have a vision to be a school that treasures and loves every individual. Our children have a thirst for learning, love for life and embrace the future with Christian hope and confidence.
“Watch, stand fast in the faith, be brave, be strong. Let all that you do be done with love”
1 Cor. 16 v 13-14
Teaching and Learning:
Our team of highly skilled and creative professionals deliver an innovative and exciting curriculum, which engages our children, enabling them to be motivated, independent, enthusiastic learners, who have high expectations of themselves, and are empowered to achieve their dreams and aspirations.
We are a happy and friendly Church of England Primary Academy in Darwen, Lancashire.
We have an amazing staff team and 180 fantastic children, ranging in age from 2 to 11 years, from Nursery to Year 6.
We all work hard and we enjoy ourselves too. We have an exciting curriculum and we aim for the highest standards in all we do.
Our children are welcome to come to Breakfast Club from 8am every day and are encouraged to take part in our many after-school activities running until 4pm.
Our Christian Values:
At Darwen St James’ CE Primary Academy, we believe that worship lies at the heart of our school life together. Through collective worship, we help everyone to develop the values and beliefs that will enable them to flourish in the world at large with all people and communities.
Collective, whole school worship, is value focused.
Each half term, the school focuses on one of the core values that we believe make up a St. James’ child. It is our belief, that through the experiences, knowledge and understanding gained through focusing on these values, that our children will leave St. James’ with essential core values for living their lives.
The value for each half term is displayed in the school foyer, the hall and every classroom. This is to aid the children in thinking about values as something to be embedded in their daily lives, not simply worship topics. Teachers, use the value of the half term regularly and link it into the curriculum taught in their classroom.
Children are given the opportunity to reflect on each value at the end of each half term. We believe that this time for reflection on their thoughts beliefs and actions, enables children to understand the progress they are making in internalising each value.
