Pre-School- Physical Development- Making Marks

In Pre-School we have been developing our mark making skills in class, using letter join and write dance to support our movements in the rice. Using our finger to mark swirls, rainbow, lines, figure of 8 and many more. The children have the freedom to see marks made in a different way instead of on paper.

Nursery - P.E - Ball Skills - Throwing, Catching And Rolling.

During PE, Nursery class focused on fundamental ball skills, specifically rolling, throwing and catching. The children engaged in independent, small group and paired activities, demonstrating a range of developing abilities. In the small group rolling activity, many children showed good control, pushing the ball forward with an open palm. Some were beginning to anticipate the ball's movement and adjust their body to receive it. The children have been developing the coordination required to consistently send the ball in a straight line. Transitioning to paired throwing, the children were at different stages of mastering this skill, while their aim varied, they all worked on releasing the ball with an underarm throw. All of the children showed enthusiasm and persistence, readily retrieving their balls and attempting throws again.

Pre-School- Physical Development- Outdoor Fun

In outdoor learning this week we have been creating potions exploring different textures with natural materials, flowers, herbs, looking at what sinks or floats in the water and making stirring and pouring actions. Mixing potions encourages the children's imaginative play and helps develop their language skills. The children linked to our story adding in magic jelly beans. The children used the balance bikes to develop their gross motor skills and used their skills from P.E to move around children to not bang into each other. The children have been using the tree rope to pull themselves up on the rope and swing on it, it has taken some time to build up their upper arm strength to hold themselves up on the rope. The children enjoyed using different water tools to create marks on the windows and floors and talked about the marks they created.

Nursery - P.E - Frog Jumps

During our P.E. lesson, the children enthusiastically engaged in mimicking frog movements. The children worked on their jumping technique, bending their knees and crouching low like frogs, the children demonstrated good understanding and attempted the action with varying levels of balance and control. This indicates developing gross motor skills, specifically coordination and balance. The children showed excitement when encouraged to jump onto the chalk-drawn lily pads. They performed small jumps with both feet together, landing with bent knees. The height and distance of their jumps varied, reflecting different levels of physical development and confidence. The children also linked sound effects to their movements, shouting 'ribbit' as they jumped from one lily pad to another.
