Comic Relief - Friday 18/03/22

Come to school in non-uniform, wearing some red if you like, (however general non uniform is fine) and raise money for Comic Relief, Red Nose Day. (Donations on ParentPay). We will be holding a DSJ Joke Competition too! If your child has a joke they would llike to share they need to let their class teacher know by 11th March. The winner from each class will then go forward to a school competition in the hall during the assembly on March 18th and get their chance to tell their joke to the whole school where they will be judged to find the key stage winners (EYFS/KS1 and KS2). There will be prizes for the winners. The rule is that the joke must be original and not made up by the children. Nursery are having a Silly Sock day instead of telling jokes, there will be a prize for the silliest, most adventerous pair of socks!

Food Bank Collections.

From Monday 6th December till Thursday 9th December we are holding a collection for the Community Helping Hands Food Bank. Any food donations such as packets, tins, cereal, biscuits and treats would be welcome. Anything you can spare would be welcome. You can send donations in with your child to class or drop them at the office. Thank you for all your support.

Blue and Yellow Day to Raise Money for Ukraine

On Friday 4th March we will be holding a non uniform day , blue and yellow, to raise money for the families of Ukraine. Donations can be made via ParentPay.

Sports For Champions UK

On Wednesday 22nd June, we will be visited by athletes from Sports for Champions UK. The children will complete an activity with an athlete. They have brought home a sponsorship form to raise money for unsponsored athletes. Any money will be greatly received, and split between school and the unsponsored athletes. Thank you!

Wear Yellow Day!

On Friday 14th October will be holding a #HELLOYELLOW day in aid of Young Minds Charity. You can wear anything yellow, socks, headbands, ribbons, t-shirts or whatever you have. Please bring a donation into School as much or as little you can on the day and this will buy your child a tasty cake! We will be holding a cake stall after Celebration worship for parents to purchase a cake if they want to. Thank you to everyone who supported our fundraising. We raised a wonderful £151.79

Children in Need.

Friday 18th November is 'The Great Spotacular' for Children in Need. This year to fit the theme we are asking the children to wear spots or bright colours for our non uniform day. Our class competition will be to guess 'How Many Spots are there on Pudsey.' Nursery will be designing a new eye patch for Pudsey Bear. There will be prizes for the winner in each class. All donations are welcome using Parent Pay.

Christmas Fayre

Friday 2nd December from 3.30 - 5pm will be our amazing Christmas Fayre. There will be plenty of exciting games and stalls such as The Chocolate Tombola, Pop Dice, Higher or Lower, a Tuck shop and the Raffle with some wonderful prizes, plus many more. The School Uniform shop will also be open for anything you may need. There may even be a special visitor! FUN FOR EVERYONE!

Red Nose Day

Wear your red nose with pride on our fun filled fundraising day. Friday 17th March is Red Nose Day. It will be a non-uniform day and we are asking the children to wear either bright colours or something silly. The brighter or sillier the better. This year we are looking to support a local food bank so instead of money, we are asking for donations of tins, packets, jars or toiletries. These can be brought into school either during the week or on the day.

Sports for Champions

We had an amazing morning with Martha our footballer from Sports for Champions.  She told us all about how she became a footballer for Birmingham Ladies and about the awards she won whilst playing for Liverpool and Manchester United Ladies teams. Thank you to everyone who sponsored the children, we raised a wonderful £900.50.

NSPCC Numbers Day

On Friday 10th February both the school and nursery will be joining in with Numbers Day to fundraise for the NSPCC. The NSPCC needs our support more than ever. By raising money, we can help fund their vital services such as Childline - the helpline that's always there for children and young people whatever their problem or concern. We are asking the children to come into school dressed as a digit, shape or anything Maths related. Thank you to everyone who donated on our Numbers Day. The children had a brilliant fun day and we raised a wonderful £92.15.

Children in Need 2023

Friday 17th November is Children in Need day. This year we are focusing on Positive Relationships. We will be having a class competition with a prize for the winners. It will be a non uniform day and the children can wear a favourite outfit. It could be a favourite fancy dress costume, a top, sports kit, socks or just a favourite colour. Donations can be made on Parent Pay.

Poppy Collection

From Tuesday 31st October our office prefects will be going round each classroom with our Poppy Appeal box. This year we have four items available with the following suggested donations - Zip pull - 50p Poppy reflector - 50p Wristbands - £1.00 Snapbands -- £1.50 We also have paper poppies and these are a voluntary donation. Thank you

Christmas Fayre

We have a limited number of stalls available for our Christmas Fair on Friday 8th December, 3.30-5.30pm. Darwen St James Primary Academy, St James Crescent, Darwen. £10 per stall plus a donation for our raffle. Please inbox or contact 01254 703260 to book.

Remember Friday 15th March is our non uniform day for Comic Relief. Wear something bright. We are also asking for donations of packets, jars and tins for a local food bank. Donations can be brought in either to the office during the week or into class on Friday.

Children in Need

On Friday 15th November we will be fundraising for Children in Need. We are hoping to raise vital funds to help support local projects and to make life lighter for children, as well as empowering them to be the best that they can. It will be a non-uniform day and we are asking the children to come dressed in their pyjamas, as their favourite Superhero or to just wear a bright colour. All donations are welcome and can be made on Parent pay or brought into school on the day. Every little bit will help.

Wearing Yellow for World Mental Health Day.

On Thursday 10th of October we will be fundraising for World Mental Health Day. We are asking the children and staff to wear something bright yellow. This could be T shirts, socks or even just ribbons in their hair. Any donations can either be brought into class or made through parent Pay on the day.

Red Nose Day

Friday 21st March is Red Nose Day. This year we will be having a non uniform day. This year's theme is 'Go Silly'. You can wear bright colours', silly wigs, odd socks. The sillier the better. We are asking for any food donations to help support our local food banks. More information to follow.

Children in Need

Friday 14th November is Children in Need day. This year we are hoping to raise as much as we can for this amazing charity to help disadvantaged children and young people. Friday will be a colourful non-uniform day. We are asking the children to wear bright colours. This could be their favourite colour, brightly coloured spots or a mix of colours like a rainbow. From ribbons in their hair to odd socks the more colourful the better. Any donations however big or small will be welcome and can be brought into class on the day. Thank you for all your donations last Friday, we raised a wonderful £151.34.

NSPCC Maths Number Day

On Friday 6th February 2026, we will be having a fun day of maths related activities to raise funds for the NSPCC. We are asking the children to come dressed as anything maths or number related. During the day, the children will be taking part in a TT Rockstars Challenge against other schools, as well as completing lots of different maths activities.

We will be holding our Christmas Fair after school on Friday 5th December 2025. Each year this event gets bigger and bigger and one not to be missed! Plenty of games, stalls, food and drink available I wonder if we will see any special visitors! Everyone is invited to come along. Please invite friends and family along.

Comic Relief - Red Nose Day

Friday 20th March is Red Nose Day and It’s time to get seriously silly for a great cause! This Red Nose Day, we’re supporting our local food bank and we need you to join the fun. We want to see your wildest hair, your most mismatched outfits, and your best face paint—the more ridiculous, the better! Become a Champion of Silliness and help us support a local food bank.
