Flu Immunisations This year, all pupils have the option to receive either the nasal flu (contains gelatine) or IM flu (injectable – does not contain gelatine). Please complete the attached form and select the green YES for the nasal and the purple YES for the injection (which does not contain gelatine). The link is now open and will close at midnight on Wednesday 12th October.

KS1 Nativity "Boogie Woogie"
Please come along and watch this year's nativity that your child has worked hard to practice for. This will be a lovely show and tickets will be priced at £1.50 each. We will let parents know when these tickets are available to purchase on parentpay. Raffle and Refreshments will be available.

Festive Christmas Lunch
All children are welcome to have a christmas dinner today. There is the meat or vegetarian option. The cost of this lunch is £2.40 paid via parentpay (there will be no fee for free school meal children) - more information to follow.

Christmas Party Day!
Wear your party clothes! Today is Christmas party day in class. Tuck shop available - prices will be released via class dojo nearer to the date.
Life Education will be visiting school
Life Education is returning this year to school! This is always a great success and very resourceful. They will do a session with each class and cover PSHE in their sessions. There is an opportunity for parents/carers to attend and they will go over what they come and talk about to your children. This session is on Thursday 22nd February at 8:55am. Don't forget that children will also have the opportunity to buy a 'Harold the Giraffe and co' scratch bookmarks for £1.
Non Uniform Day - The Cancer Bank
We will be holding a non uniform day to raise money to purchase items for people struggling with Cancer. There will be lots of fun sporty activities on this day throughout school, therefore please could your child wear comfortable trainers if possible. Mr Theobald's, the Headteacher at Lower Darwen St James' has set up this new cause due to his own battle with Cancer and we wanted to support him with this. The Cancer Bank are asking for donations to help cancer patients who might be in Hospital or the Hospice to keep them as comfortable as possible during their treatment and recovery. Please see the attached poster to see what they need. Alternatively please make a donation via ParentPay or by bringing cash into school and we as a School will purchase the items with the monies collected and donate to The Cancer Bank.
World Book Day 2024
We will be celebrating World Book Day this year and the theme is 'snuggle up'. We will be inviting all children in to wear their Pyjamas and bring in a Teddy if they wish. There will be lots of activities throughout the day, so lots of fun to be had!
Parent Drop In
Parents are welcome to drop in and look at their children's books and get their end of year reports after school.
Dental Survey for 5 year Olds

Sports for Champions UK
On Wednesday 19th June, Sports for Champions UK will be coming in and completing some exercises with each class. Your child will be coming home with a sponsorship form today and all monies will need to be in school by Monday 17th June at 3:20pm please so that the office team can count this up. DSJ Reading Cafe!
Get ready for a special treat! We're thrilled to invite you to our very first Reading Café this Wednesday at 2:30 PM. Imagine stepping into a world of adventure and magic with your child, all through the wonderful power of stories! Sharing books together isn't just about reading words; it's about opening up whole new worlds of imagination and connection. Come along to the school office at 2:30 PM, and we'll guide you in to meet your child. You'll then have access to our cosy reading nooks, tables, and other delightful reading stations, creating the perfect setting to share stories and create lasting memories. We can't wait to welcome you and your child to this exciting event!

Music Themed Non Uniform Day - In Lieu of Summer Fair
We are having a non uniform day in lieu of our Summer Fair. As a 'fine' we kindly ask for a bottle donation for our Summer Fair. This can be an alcoholic bottle, fizzy pop bottle, bottle of bath products etc. This is to use on our bottle tombola which is normally very busy, particularly alcoholic bottles seem to be most popular. This non uniform day is linked with National Music Day, come dressed up as anything linked with music, this could be your favourite rock star, pop singer, band member etc!
DSJ Beach Themed Reading Cafe
???????? DSJ Beach is open for one day only – and you’re invited! ???????? Get ready for a very exciting Beach-Themed Reading Café! Join us for stories, sunshine (hopefully!), and tasty refreshments as you relax and read with your child. The last café was packed – and this one’s set to be even better! ???? Thursday 9th July ???? 2.30pm ???? Come through the main office Bring your best beach vibes – sunhats, shades and all! ????️ Everyone’s welcome – including younger siblings. We can’t wait to see you there! ????????????
Children in Need
Friday 14th November is Children in Need day. This year we are hoping to raise as much as we can for this amazing charity to help disadvantaged children and young people. Friday will be a colourful non-uniform day. We are asking the children to wear bright colours. This could be their favourite colour, brightly coloured spots or a mix of colours like a rainbow. From ribbons in their hair to odd socks the more colourful the better. Any donations however big or small will be welcome and can be brought into class on the day. Thank you for all your donations last Friday, we raised a wonderful £151.34.
Christmas Reading Cafe
We’re getting into the festive spirit with our Christmas Reading Café! Families are invited to join us for an afternoon of cosy stories, simple activities, and a well-earned hot chocolate. We’ll also have a very special visitor… Father Christmas himself will be popping in to share a story with everyone. It’s all happening on Thursday 11 December at 2:30pm in the hall. We’d love to see you there and start the season with a bit of warmth and cheer.
