Nursery - Communication And Language - Decorating The Christmas Tree
The children in nursery class were full of excitement this week as we marked the start of the Christmas countdown by decorating our Christmas tree. This activity became a rich foundation for developing communication and descriptive language. While using their fine motor skills to carefully hang the decorations, the children spontaneously engaged in conversation, actively discussing the different sizes, shapes, and colours they could see. This provided a natural opportunity to expand their descriptive vocabulary. Furthermore, the excitement prompted the children to share personal experiences, talking about their own Christmas trees at home and sharing their thoughts and knowledge about Santa. The activity successfully promoted peer-to-peer communication and the sharing of imaginative ideas.
Year 5 and 6 PSHE - Knife Crime Workshop
This week, Year 5 and 6 welcomed a PCSO (Police Community Support Officer) to our PSHE lesson for a crucial talk on the dangers of knife crime. Students engaged actively, learning essential strategies for personal safety and understanding the legal and ethical reality: there is never a justified reason to carry a knife. The officer also provided vital guidance on critically evaluating social media content that may pose risks. Following the session, the children created clear and impactful information posters to educate the wider school community about the dangers they had learned.
Reception- PSHE-Gruffalo Hunt
This week, Reception class stepped into the deep dark wood and enjoyed an exciting, cross-curricular Gruffalo Hunt! We used our investigative skills to search around the school grounds for the familiar characters from Julia Donaldson's much-loved story. The children were thrilled to spot the fox, the owl, the snake, and, of course, the fearsome Gruffalo himself! Following our successful hunt, we gathered to discuss the story's true hero: the little Mouse. We talked about how the Mouse used his wits and bravery to outsmart all the bigger, scarier animals. The children were brilliant at identifying what it means to be brave, even when you are feeling a little scared. The highlight of the discussion was sharing our own personal stories. Each child had a chance to talk about a time they were brave—whether it was trying a new food, going on a tall slide, or sleeping without their nightlight. It was wonderful to see the children supporting each other and celebrating their courage! This activity was a fantastic way to combine our literacy skills with our Personal, Social, and Emotional Development (PSED), helping us understand that even the smallest among us can be the bravest.
Nursery - P.E - Fruit Bowl Bowling
The children thoroughly enjoyed playing a themed game of bowling in our PE lesson today! We put a fun twist on the activity by using bowling pins that pictured various fruit from our story, Kitchen Disco. The main focus of the lesson was developing rolling skills and refining their aim to knock down their favorite pieces of fruit. The children loved the visual satisfaction of seeing the pins fall one by one. Crucially, they demonstrated fantastic perseverance with the challenge, especially when only a couple of pins were left standing. They skillfully practiced adjusting their aim and ball speed to eventually knock down the final pins, successfully linking their physical skills with problem-solving.
Year 5 PSHE - The Compassion Workshop
This week, Year 5 welcomed Tom from Everfi for a special workshop focused on compassion and kindness. As "Be Kind" is one of our key school rules, students could contribute knowledgeably to discussions about practical ways to demonstrate kindness toward others. We completed the interactive workshop online, culminating in an assessment where successful completion earned the children a well-deserved certificate!
Pre-School-P.S.H.E-What Does Our Body Need?-Making Fruit Kebabs
This week in P.S.H.E pre-school have been looking at - what our bodies need. The children had a good understanding of the food our bodies need and understand that exercise helps us to keep our bodies fit and healthy. The children then made their own fruit kebabs selecting the fruits they like and placing them on a kebab stick before enjoying eating their kebabs.
Year 6: PSHE - Healthy lifestyle talk
On Monday, Year 6 were lucky enough to have a talk from a visitor learning about how to improve their lifestyles, with a focus on creating healthy habits, and how to make the right choices around food.
Year 5 PSHE - PCSO Bonfire and Firework Safety Talk
Years 5 and 6 received a vital visit this afternoon from our local PCSOs concerning Bonfire and Firework safety. Students were clearly taught The Firework Code and the life-saving Stop, Drop, and Roll technique. A key discussion point focused on responsible behaviour, stressing the importance of avoiding hoax calls during this busy time of year. The children showed excellent maturity, making relevant observations and participating confidently in the Q&A session.
Year 3 - PSHE - Sharing Our Opinions Respectfully
In Year 3, we're developing crucial communication and social skills through our PSHE lesson on sharing opinions respectfully. This session helped children understand that everyone has a right to their own viewpoint, and it's essential to express those views in a way that is kind, polite, and doesn't upset others.
Year 5 PSHE - Role Playing Assertiveness
In PSHE this week, Year 5 mastered the skill of assertiveness. We brought the concept to life by role-playing a scenario where a boy assertively declined a friend's request to ride his brand new bicycle. This engaging exercise allowed the children to identify the key assertive strategies and effective body language used in the script. We then compiled a useful class list of these techniques, clearly distinguishing assertiveness from both aggression and passiveness.

Pre-School- PSHE- Personal Hygiene- Toothbrushing
Get ready to rock and brush! Taking care of our smiles is one of the coolest parts of our day here at pre-school. Each of our little learners gets to be totally independent—they have their own brush and get to squeeze the toothpaste onto it all by themselves! Then, it's time for the two minute brush! The children pick a favourite song, and they sing and scrub until the music stops. Once they're done, they independently wash their brush and tuck it safely back into its carrier. This super fun routine turns good personal hygiene into an exciting, empowering habit!
