Our adventurous Year 2 pupils went on a virtual seaside holiday this week, using Google Maps to explore the beautiful coastal town of Weymouth! After successfully navigating the digital map, the children used the 'Pegman' street view feature to drop right into the heart of the town, exploring the area virtually to spot its distinct human and physical geography. As they "walked" through the streets and along the seafront, they became geography detectives—identifying features like sandy beaches and cliffs alongside piers and seaside shops, writing each discovery onto a post-it note, and classifying them into the correct categories on their tables. It was an incredibly engaging way to build their digital and geographical skills, and the classroom was buzzing with excitement as they discovered what makes a coastal town so unique!
