Smart TVs have become more affordable in recent years, making them readily available to most consumers. These more advanced systems offer numerous features beyond those of a normal television set – chiefly, the ability to access the internet and interface with popular streaming services without the need for a set-top box or other intermediary device. This increased functionality, however, also brings additional threats to privacy, security and more – as you’d perhaps expect from any device capable of going online. As TV is such a cornerstone of our home lives, these dangers can be uniquely difficult to manage. Reception Class - Anti Bullying Posters
Today the children have been talking about how we can be a kind friend. We discussed what bullying means and what we can do if somebody is unkind to us. W then made some posters to put up in our classroom and around school.
Year 4 - PE Netball
Today in our PE lesson we have been passing and receiving the ball using chest pass, one/two handed passing and then we practised using the netball nets to see how many goals we could get.
Year 5 PE - Netball
Today in our PE lesson we have been passing and receiving the ball using chest pass and bounce pass. We practised using the netball nets, aiming and shooting.
Y6 - DT - Trusses
Year 6 learnt all about trusses to make bridges strong in D&T, and we created our own trusses. Here are some examples of the trusses we made!
Reception Class -Maths - Parts That Make a Whole
Tooday the children have been learning how to; Identify the 'whole' when shown 1 part of a familiar object identify that the parts are still visible when they are assembled to make the whole hear the language of 'whole' and 'parts'. I’ve got a basket full of different parts here. Do you think you can help me sort out a problem? In my basket I have collected some things that I found left out, and they need sorting. Do you think you can help me decide which whole thing each part belongs to? We can say that parts can join together to make a whole.
Year 4 Anti Bullying Posters
As part of their PSHE lessons and in aid of Anti Bullying Week, the children have been designing their own anti bullying posters. Here are Year 4’s entries. We will be displaying the posters around school.
Year 6 Drama Techniques
In English we used drama techniques to 'freeze frame' what our reactions would be if we were told that we were going on a trip around the world, like the main character Michael, in our book Kensuke's Kingdom.
Remembrance Day - 2 Minute Silence
Today we carried out a 2 minute silence to honour the lives of those killed in the war.
Year 1 - RE
In R.E. Year 1 have been learning about the differences between the world Jesus grew up in and the world they are growing up in. This week we talked about clothing and footwear. The children make some sandals from construction card that people would have worn in Jesus' day.
Year 5 Science - Humans
In our science lesson this afternoon, we have been learning about the life cycle of a human and the gestation of animals.
The BBC micro:bits Have Landed!
We received some new tech in school today, a set of 30 BBC micro:bits. The BBC micro:bit is packed with inputs, outputs, sensors and radio communication features. You can find put more here https://microbit.org/ We can’t wait to get started with these!
