Year 5 PE - Football Skills
We began our football topic in PE with Tom from Progressive Sports. This week we practiced the skill of dribbling, applying the transferable skills of control, decision making and spatial awareness.
Year 5 - Timeline
We have had a very busy week, starting our new topic in English, we also created timelines of significant Kings and Queens in English. The children found this tricky but really tried hard to apply their growth mindsets.
Year 1 - Music - Keyboards
Year 1 have started their keyboard lessons this week with Miss McDonald from Junior Jam. They have been exploring the different keys.
Y2 Science - Everyday Materials
We completed our final Science investigation for our topic 'Everyday Materials' last week. We tested glass, plastic, foil, wood and paper to see which was the best at letting light through. We found that glass let lots of light through, plastic and paper let some light through and foil and wood didn't let any light through. We sent our findings to a scientist to let him know that glass is the best material for his new windscreen in his racing car as it let the most light through.
Christmas Fayre
December 2nd 2022 saw our annual Christmas Fayre. Lots of fun was had by both parents and children at our many different stalls. We even had a special visit from Father Christmas who spent lots of time hearing what presents the children would like for Christmas. Thank you to everyone who came and supported us. All together we raised a brilliant £726.94.

Children in Need 'The Great Spotacular'
Friday 18th November we held our fundraiser 'The Great Spotacular' for Children in Need. This year to fit the theme we asked the children to wear spots or bright colours for our non uniform day. Our class competition was to guess 'How Many Spots there were on Pudsey.' Nursery's competition was to design a new eye patch for Pudsey Bear. Well done to the winners in each class. Thank you for all your support we have raised £145.55
Y2 - Hand Washing
This afternoon the children learned the importance of washing their hands. Kasim visited school to teach the children about germs, how they spread and how we can stop them spreading by washing our hands and using hand sanitiser. The children used a special gel on their hands and looked at the ‘germs’ under a UV light. They washed their hands and checked again to see how well they had washed the germs away. The children then thought about the importance of cleaning their nails and in between their fingers when washing as these were the places that the germs remained.

Y2 English Experience Day
As part of our English unit, the children enjoyed their campfire experience day. We sang songs, listened to stories and even enjoyed smores and hot chocolate.
Y2 Science - Testing Materials
This week in Science, the children investigated the best material to make an umbrella. They tested cling film, tissue, tin foil, a plastic bag and kitchen roll. They found 3 of the materials were waterproof but decided the plastic bag would make the best umbrella as it’s also stronger.
