Year 3 - English - Using The Correct Determiners
Determiner Detectives in Year 3! We’ve been mastering the rules for using a and an today. To put our new skills into practice, we turned our attention to the iconic Moon-Face from The Enchanted Wood. The children had to think carefully—is it a shiny face or an unusual face. It was a fantastic way to sharpen our grammar while exploring the magic of Enid Blyton’s world!

We are officially beginning our brand-new English unit inspired by Enid Blyton’s classic. Years 3 and 4 Easter Service
Years 3 and 4 have worked so hard lately, practising words, songs and actions, in preparation for presenting the Easter Service at Church. And what a fantastic service it was! They told the Easter story with passion, respect and a lot of talent and enthusiasm! It was enjoyed by all who saw it.
Year 3 - Jesus And Me - Crosses From Around The World
Our wonderful Year 3 class has officially kicked off their "Jesus And Me" Challenge, and this week we are going global! The children have been explorers of faith, discovering the beautiful and unique ways different cultures represent the cross. From the intricate knots of the Celtic Cross to the vibrant colors of Salvadoran folk art crosses, we’ve been learning that while the symbol changes appearance, the message of love remains the same everywhere.
Year 3 - Maths - Measuring Volume
Our Year 3 mathematicians have been following the White Rose Maths small steps this week, moving from "Measuring Volume" to "Measuring Capacity." We’ve been busy building our fluency by reading scales and comparing amounts using l and ml The classroom has been a "hive of heuristics" as we used concrete resources to visualize exactly what 1,000ml looks like compared to a single litre. We’ve even been practicing our bar models to help us add and subtract volumes like pros!
Year 3 - Science - Investigating Magnets
Stuck on Science! Our Year 3 scientists have had a truly "attractive" week! As part of our new science unit, we’ve been diving into the world of magnets and forces. The classroom was buzzing as students tested different materials to see what’s magnetic and what’s not. From paperclips to pennies, we’ve been predicting, testing, and recording our findings like pros.
Year 3 - P.E. - Team Games
Duck, Dip, Dive, and Dodge! Our Year 3 team brought the energy to the hall today for an epic session of Dodgeball! While we stayed indoors, the competitive spirit was through the roof as the students put their teamwork and reflexes to the ultimate test. This wasn't just about throwing balls—it was a masterclass in cooperation and quick thinking. We focused on how to defend our teammates, when to take a strategic risk, and the importance of playing fair under pressure.
Year 3 - STEM Challenge
Taking Flight in Year 3! Our Year 3 engineers reached new heights this week during an action-packed STEM Challenge! The mission was simple but the science was complex: design and build paper aeroplanes and helicopters, then refine them to see which could travel the furthest distance. The Engineering Process: Initial Prototypes: Students experimented with different wing shapes and body lengths. Testing & Measuring: We took to the "runway" to record our flight distances. The "Tweak" Phase: This was where the real magic happened! Children adjusted their designs—adding paperclips for weight, changing fold angles, or shortening blades—to improve stability and lift.
Year 3 - D.T. - Using A Microbit
Bright Sparks in Year 3! Our Year 3 designers have been busy leveling up their tech skills this week! In preparation for creating their very own safety devices, the children dived into the world of coding. We used BBC micro:bits to explore how light can be used to keep us safe in the darkWhat we achieved: Logical Thinking: We mapped out our code to ensure our devices respond correctly. Programming: The pupils used Block Editor to program the micro:bit’s LED matrix to flash bright warning patterns. Problem Solving: There was plenty of "debugging" as we checked our code to make sure those lights shone bright!
Year 3 - P.E - Dance Workshop
Our Year 3 students had an incredible time today as they swapped their desks for the spotlight! We were thrilled to welcome West End in Schools for a high-energy, creative workshop all about China.
