Year 2 – Courageous Advocacy in Action

As part of our ongoing Courageous Advocacy work, Year 2 have been exploring the important issue of litter in our community. The children showed real care and compassion for the environment as they discussed the impact litter has on wildlife and our planet. They then got creative by designing posters to encourage others to take action and bin their litter, spreading an important message of care and responsibility. Alongside this, the children also wrote thoughtful prayers, asking for a cleaner, safer world and for people to make better choices for the Earth. We are so proud of the passion and purpose Year 2 showed—they are truly making a difference!

Pre-School-PSHE-Courageous Advocacy

Today we had a super fun session all about making sure everyone feels happy, included and listened to! We talked about how we show kindness and respect in our environment, and the children had lots of brilliant ideas. They helped make decisions by voting for the story they wanted to hear—everyone added their vote to the chart and we counted up which story won! The children became the teachers for the day, choosing which activities we should do and what resources we should use. They were amazing at listening to each other, sharing ideas, and making sure everyone had a say. We also chatted about fairness and why it’s so important to be kind to everyone. Later on in the garden, the children worked as a team to move a big log—they helped each other, made a plan and got it done together. Teamwork and big smiles all around!

Reception - Courageous Advocacy - Litter

This afternoon, the children continued to build on their prior learning from our last courageous advocacy session, where they identified littering as a key issue in our community. Demonstrating a strong sense of responsibility and care for their environment, the children engaged in a variety of meaningful activities. They created eye-catching posters encouraging people to dispose of their litter properly, showcasing their creativity and commitment to spreading awareness. The children also took part in a litter sorting activity, which sparked thoughtful conversations about recycling and the impact of waste on our planet. It was heartening to see the depth of understanding the children displayed and the genuine compassion they showed for their environment. Their enthusiasm and sense of purpose were evident throughout the afternoon, and we are incredibly proud of their efforts to be active, informed advocates for change in their community.

Year 3 - Courageous Advocacy - All About Rubbish

During our Courageous Advocacy afternoon Year 3 were looking at the problems around rubbish. The children had a problem tree and a solution tree that they had to complete. They discussed what caused rubbish, the effects rubbish had on the environment and what sort of rubbish they saw around them and then wrote these onto the problem tree. Using the solution tree they came up with different ideas on how they could change things. They decided that things that would help would be workshops in schools about how rubbish affects us , volunteering in your local area litter picking and changing the packaging on some items.

Reception - Worship - Ideas For A School Prayer Space

Today, Reception Class brainstormed ideas for a new Prayer Space that will be in the entrance of the School. First of all we thought about all the things that the children like about the worship area in our classroom and then considered what else would be good, such as cushions and sand!

Today Reception Class reflected on why people leave litter around in our community and how that makes us feel. We then thought about ways we can all make our place a better place to live by the actions we take.
