Year 4 Sports Coach
We have been blessed this week by a visit from Rebekah Green... A Sports for Champions ambassador and a member of Team GB for the freestyle kayaker who has represented our country on several occasions. We heard of how she made her dreams a reality and her successes along the way. A truly inspiring story and we wish her all the success in the world in her upcoming world championship event in a few weeks time. Thank you Miss Green.
Year 6 Orienteering PE
In our PE lesson we have started Orienteering. We had to follow both visual and written instructions, either by copying our partner with the physical route they took around the map or by following the written route that they have made for us.
Year 6 English: Researching Chester Zoo for a Persuasive Advert
This week in English we are writing some adverts, persuading people to visit Chester Zoo. We used the Chester Zoo website to find out as many amazing facts about the zoo as we could! For example, did you know that Chester Zoo has over 35,000 animals?
Reception Music: Welcoming Characters to our Party with Musical instruments.
In Music, Reception class were thinking about different fairy tale characters. As they all arrived at our party we greeted them with different musical instruments depending on their characters. When Cinderella arrived, the children played bells because she was graceful and beautiful. When Rumpelstiltskin knocked on the door the drums were banged because he was not a friendly person. Finally, when the Big Bad Wolf arrived the cymbals were crashed together loudly!
Year 5 French
In our French lesson we learnt how to say the words for brother and sister and how many that we have.
Year 5 Computing Physical Concept Maps
During our computing lesson the children discussed what they thought a concept map was. After the discussion the year 5 children created a physical concept map on the KS2 yard which they really enjoyed.
Year 5 PE Orienteering
During our first lesson on Orienteering the children had to navigate a map of school to locate different objects. They also had to use their knowledge of a compass to support them with this . The children had a lot of fun!
Year 5 RE
In our RE lesson the children firstly had to decipher why certain women in the old Testament were famous from looking at the pictures. They then researched each of the women to find out exactly why they were in the Bible. Some of the children were surprised by the answers !
School Council Litter Picking
The School Councillors got actively involved in caring for their school environment by litter-picking. They showed dedication and commitment by staying behind after school and collected a variety of litter. They were kindly assisted by Mrs Adamson, Mrs Evans and Mrs Bolton.
Nursery - Maths - Capacity
During independent learning this week we have focused on capacity. The children have explored our water area and the mud kitchen outdoors and used the pots, pans and pouring apparatus to explore full and empty. The children have been encouraged to use the language 'full' and 'empty' to describe what they could see.
Year 2 RE Investigating Mosques
In Year 2, we looked at the features of a Mosque using religious vocabulary. We then created our own Islamic pattern designs.
Science Day - Making Things Grow
During Science Day Year 3 looked at plants and what they needed to grow. They made their own cress potato heads using a potato, cotton wool and cress seeds.
