Our little artists have been busy crafting their own Easter chicks! Using bright colors, fluffy materials, and lots of creativity, they carefully designed their adorable chicks. This activity not only gets us into the Easter spirit but also helps develop fine motor skills and artistic expression. Well done, everyone—your chicks look amazing!
Year 2 - Computing - Pointillism Art
Year 2 developed their digital art skills in computing this week, mastering the art of pointillism. They learned how to use digital tools to place individual dots of colour, resulting in impressive and detailed pictures that showcased their growing artistic abilities.
Reception - Art and Design - Painting Frames
The children in reception showed great enthusiasm and creativity while painting their photo frames. They carefully selected their favorite colours and took their time applying the paint, demonstrating both independence and personal preference. As they added sequins and glitter, they experimented with different placements and combinations, enhancing their fine motor skills and artistic expression. Their excitement was evident as they admired their unique and colourful designs, showing pride in their work.
Year 5 Art - Using Watercolours to Create Backgrounds
Year 5's Art class this week focused on watercolour techniques, preparing backgrounds for their poetry monotype prints. Students crafted their own sketchbooks, which they then used to experiment with watercolour washes and textures, setting the stage for their upcoming printing project.
Pre School-Expressive Art And Design-Live painting Of Daffodils
In Preschool the children have been getting creative and painting live daffodils using fine and gross motor skills, This encourages the children to use all their senses: look closely at the daffodils, touch their petals and stems, and even smell them and allows children to express their own interpretations of the daffodils. This also allows children to develop their creativity and appreciation for the natural world.
Year 2 Computing - Creating Pictures - Impressionism
Year 2 developed their digital art skills while learning about Impressionism. They studied the techniques of Impressionist painters and then applied those principles to create their own digital Impressionist artwork on the computers.
Year 5 World Book Day: Creating 'Lost Thing' Potatoes!
Year 5 engaged in a hands-on World Book Day activity, using potatoes as a medium to explore the themes and characters of Shaun Tan's 'The Lost Thing.' This project encouraged them to think critically about the book's imagery and symbolism, and allowed the children to demonstrate their understanding of the book's unique visual style
Family Easter Egg Competition
Dear Parents/Carers, Our annual Family Easter Egg Competition is almost here! This year’s theme is “All Things Easter”, so let your creativity shine! You could design your eggs based on: • Easter animals like chicks, bunnies, or lambs • Traditional Easter symbols such as crosses, baskets, or spring flowers • Fun Easter scenes like an egg hunt or a chocolate feast • Characters with an Easter twist—perhaps an “Egg Minion” or a “Bunny Superhero”! All entries should be clearly labelled with your child’s name and class and brought into school by Wednesday, 9th April. The winners will be announced during worship on Thursday, 10th April. Nursery - World Book Day! Creating A Mr Potato Head - Literacy
For world book day this year the children were tasked with decorating a potato! In Nursery class we made Mr Potato heads using different facial features and accessories. The children used their knowledge of facial proportions to select and place the correct features on their potatoes. They then chose from a variety of accessories, shoes, bags, hats etc. The children did a fabulous job and their potatoes turned out amazing! Well done everyone, what a great way to celebrate world book day.
Reception’s Exciting World Book Day Celebration!
Reception had a fantastic time celebrating World Book Day this year! Our chosen story was Supertato, and the children were absolutely thrilled by the adventures of Evil Pea and his mischievous antics. In the afternoon, they got creative by decorating their own potatoes to represent their favorite characters from the story. To end the day, we visited the library to swap our books and enjoyed sharing the Supertato story with our grown-ups. It was a wonderful day full of fun, creativity, and a love for reading!

Reception - Colour Mixing
Today, the children continued their exploration of colour mixing, incorporating a bit of science into their learning. They used spray bottles filled with water to spray onto tissue paper, observing how the water caused the colours to run and blend. As the colours transferred onto the plain paper underneath, the children were fascinated by the patterns and mixes that appeared. Throughout the activity, the children engaged in discussions about the different colours they could see and how they changed when mixed together. They expressed excitement and curiosity as they observed the effects of the water on the tissue paper. Many children took pride in their artwork, eagerly sharing their creations with others. This hands-on experience encouraged creativity, scientific thinking, and exploration of colour mixing in an engaging and interactive way.
