Reception - Class Worship - Moses
This week in our Reception class worship, we learned about Moses and how he showed compassion and trust in God. We listened to the story of how Moses helped the Israelites and trusted God to guide him, even when things were difficult. The children talked about what it means to care for others and to have faith, just like Moses did. We thought about times when we can show compassion — by helping a friend, sharing, or being kind. To finish, we said a short prayer together, thanking God for people who care for us and asking for courage to trust Him, just like Moses.
Reception- Class Worship- Story of Joseph
The children enjoyed a very special class worship, as Jack the Puppet helps us explore an important Bible story: the journey of Joseph. Jack tells the dramatic tale of Joseph and his brothers. How jealousy led Joseph's brothers to send him away to Egypt, and how Joseph trusted God and became a powerful and good man. The most wonderful part? We saw how Joseph showed incredible courage and forgiveness when he finally came face-to-face with the very people who had hurt him.
Cidari Earth Conference 2025
???? Cidari Earth Conference 2025 ???? This week, pupils from across the Cidari family came together under Gaia, the magnificent Earth installation, to take part in our Cidari Earth Conference. The theme was insurmountable problems — from disease and illness to deforestation and droughts — and how we, as a global family, can work together to solve them. Our children from Darwen St James were fantastic representatives. They spoke with real thoughtfulness and hope, offering ideas for how faith, kindness, and action can make a difference. They also created active prayer stations, encouraging others to reflect, pray, and act for the good of our world. It was wonderful to see the whole Cidari community united in faith and purpose — caring for creation, inspired by Christian values, and showing that even the biggest problems can be faced with love, courage, and perseverance. We’re so proud of our pupils and their passion for looking after God’s world.
Year 5 Holy Communion Service
This Tuesday, Year 5 had the opportunity to visit the church for Holy Communion. We explored the meaning of Brotherly Love by reading a passage from 1 Corinthians 13 and discussing its message. After sharing our wonderful and heartfelt prayers, we took part in the communion service, with students choosing to either receive communion or a blessing from Rev Kev. The morning concluded with a lovely lunch shared with the congregation before we returned to school.
Year 4 Class Worship
In our Class Worship, Year 4 have shared their ideas on the theme of being thankful. We were able to come up with a great list of all of the different things people may be thankful for and understood that there are so many different reasons in our lives for which we can all be thankful - the possibilities were endless!
Year 6 - Communion
Rev. Kev led a spiritually enriching service at the church, where Year 6 students were able to experience the profound practice of Christian worship. Through his fantastic speaking and shared prayers, the service highlighted the core tenets of the Church of England, fostering a deeper connection to faith and community for the children.
Reception - Class Worship - Meeting Jack
This week Reception took part in their very first class worship. We were introduced to Jack through Roots and Fruits and met Hack the puppet, who will be helping us on our journey. We learned about creation and talked about the many wonderful things in our world. The children thought about how we can show thankfulness for these gifts and how we worship together in school. This was also a chance to begin exploring spirituality – noticing the beauty around us, feeling a sense of awe and wonder, and learning that worship is about more than words; it’s about how we connect with God and each other.
Year 2 Communion
Our Year 2 children had a wonderful and meaningful Communion service. They actively participated, listening to important teachings like the Summary of the Law, which emphasizes loving God and your neighbor. The children received blessings and took communion, making it a very special day for them.
Year 3 - What An Amazing Year!
What an incredible year it's been for Year 3! We've explored so many exciting new topics, from forces and plants in science to building castles in DT. In computing, we learned to send emails, and in French, we mastered greetings. One of our favorite lessons was hot-seating as characters from "The Magic Faraway Tree". We even staged two fantastic productions: "The Christmas Story" and, at Easter, "Roll Back The Stone." It's safe to say we've learned a tremendous amount and had a truly brilliant year!
Year 6 Leavers Service
This week (before their transition days) year 6 came together with other year 6 classes from within the area for collective worship at St George's in Chorley. Some of the children were even brave enough to perform at the front, and answer questions on the microphone in front of a large audience!
Year 5 Church Visit for Holy Communion
This week, Year 5 had the special opportunity to join the Holy Communion Service at our church. A student thoughtfully read about the Lord's Prayer and how Jesus taught it to his disciples, setting a reflective tone. Many children courageously shared their own heartfelt prayers, asking God for guidance and help with global challenges such as wars and climate change. Following the service, we enjoyed a communal lunch at the church before returning to school, a wonderful end to a meaningful morning.
Year 5 Worship - How we Help Our Friends
In a meaningful Class Worship session, Year 5 engaged with the powerful story of the paralysed man, which they then creatively retold in engaging cartoon strip form. Building on this narrative, students reflected deeply on past instances where they've supported a friend and, inspired by the story's message, thoughtfully made personal pledges for how they intend to offer help and kindness to their friends in the future.
