Pre-School- PD-Fine Motor Skills
Physical Development-Fine Motor Skills - In this skill the children were working those tiny muscles in the hands and fingers that are needed for precise movements. Helping the children to get better at controlling their hand movements and coordinating them with what they see.
Reception - Handwriting
The children have been developing their handwriting through our Letter-join scheme. They have been working in small groups, forming letters correctly. This week we are focussing on g and q.
Preschool-Literacy-When I Grow Up
In Literacy we have been Talking about when we grow up and what job roles we would like to do, we have had police officers, firefighters, life guards and teachers. The children drew what they would like to be when they are older.
Reception - PE - Gymnastics
Today, the children participated in a physical activity session inspired by the theme of woodland animals. Using a variety of apparatus, they explored different ways to create shapes with their bodies while developing their balance, coordination, and strength. As they moved across the equipment, the children focused on squeezing their muscles to maintain their shapes, ensuring their arms and legs were straight when performing straight and star shapes. They confidently climbed, balanced, and jumped, demonstrating increasing control over their movements. Some children experimented with different shapes and actions, thinking creatively about how woodland animals might move through their environment. The session also encouraged important social skills, as the children took turns with their group, ensuring everyone had a chance to use the equipment safely. They showed growing confidence when using the apparatus, supporting and encouraging one another throughout the activity. Overall, this session provided an opportunity for the children to develop their physical skills while engaging their imagination and teamwork in a fun, active way.
Reception - English - Writing a Sentence
This half-term, we are focusing on writing simple captions and sentences. Each morning, the children will write the stem sentence “I can see” and use their phonetic knowledge to spell different objects. We will be observing their ability to construct phonetically plausible sentences and form letters correctly.
Reception - Maths - One More Than
Today, the children engaged in a hands-on counting activity using ten frames and pom-poms while listening to the story Mouse Count. Each child was given their own ten frame and a selection of objects to use as manipulatives. As the story was read aloud, the children actively participated by adding one more object to their ten frame each time a new mouse was added in the story. They demonstrated careful counting, one-to-one correspondence, and an increasing awareness of number sequences. Some children excitedly anticipated the next number, while others carefully placed each object, checking their total as they went. This activity helped reinforce counting skills in a meaningful and engaging way, encouraging children to connect the story with mathematical concepts. The children enjoyed the interactive experience, showing confidence and enthusiasm as they filled their ten frames.

Nursery - Geography - Egg Hunt
Following on from our story this week 'Oh dear!', Nursery class went on an egg hunt in our garden! At each location the children saw an image that they had to link with different areas in the garden to help them find the next clue. We followed each clue and went on a trail to find the eggs. The children showed some great observational skills, noticing details in the garden which helped them follow the trail. Showing brilliant perseverance the children checked each spot which eventually led them to the chicken and the eggs hiding in the bushes. Well done everybody!
