Nursery - Computing - Navigating purple Mash. Create A Stocking
In Nursery class this week we have been looking at Christmas celebrations. To tie in with this, the children decorated their own stockings on purple mash. The children have been learning how to navigate the draw function on this website, understanding that they need to scroll to find the different colours and making the link between the colour selected and observing the change in colour of their marks. The children made marks on their stockings in different ways, some children made lines and movements with their finger to create marks and others decided to tap the screen to create dots. They made some beautiful stockings!
Pre-School-UTW-Investigating Frozen Penguins
This week we have been exploring all about penguins, we have learnt that penguins live in the south pole where it is cold and there is lots of ice around. We have then explored ice but our penguins were stuck inside and we discussed how we can get them out. We used our hands to warm up the ice and watched it melt to free the penguins.

Nursery - Literacy - Fine Motor Skills - Decorating The Christmas Tree
In Nursery class this week, we have been getting into the Christmas spirit! We got our Christmas tree out and an array of decorations for the children to hang on the tree. The children were encouraged to use a pincer grip to open the string on the baubles, perfect early practice for pencil grip! We also spoke about the colours that the children could see. Found big and small baubles. Discussed the shapes we could see. And spoke about the textures of the different decorations, shiny, sparkly, smooth, rough, fluffy... The children have loved rearranging the baubles throughout the week and admiring the different decorations.

The children have been collecting and decorating sticks, making their own stick person. They have also used playough to represent the Stick Man and different characters from the story.
Reception Class - Maths - Subitising
Reception Class have been consolidating their mathematical knowledge this week, revising subitising. The children have been working really hard at using their 'fast eyes' to say how many dots they saw and what it looked like. Some children said they saw a heart, a triangle and a person. The children then subitised numbers 1 to 5 and matched the quantity to the numeral.
Reception - RE - Chatterbox Discussion About Christmas
In RE we have started our topic on Christmas. The children took out items from the Chatterbox connected to birthdays and characters from the Nativity Story. They talked about how they celebrate their birthdays and how Christmas is to celebrate the birthday of Jesus.
Reception - Exploring Our World - A Leaf Scavenger Hunt
As a part of our "Exploring The World" Unit and this week's Literacy theme on the book "The Leaf Man," Reception class went on a leaf scavenger hunt. The children worked in pairs and had clip-boards with different leaf images to tick. They were brilliant at describing the colours and shapes of their leaves.
Nursery - Music - Experimenting With Loud And Quiet Sounds
During our music lesson this week we have been experimenting with loud and quiet sounds. The children took it in turns to select an instrument to use and then tested them out to see what sounds each instrument made. We then explored how we could adapt how we played the instrument to change the volume level. The children were able to play the instruments softly to create quiet sounds and also were able to adjust the way they played the instrument to make loud sounds!
Parent And Toddler Group
We have had a great time this week at our parent and toddler group. This weeks theme was 'Autumn', the children made some leaf wreaths, and experimented with colour mixing during our pinecone rolling activity. They also enjoyed using their gross motor skills to maneuver around, over and under the soft play equipment. Our music mat was also very popular, taking part in 'whats in the bag' and singing with our peers while adding a bit of musical flare with the instruments! Our parent and toddler group is on every Wednesday from 9:45-11:15 with different themes featuring each week! Please come and join us, having lots of fun and making new friends!
