Pre-School-R.E-Epiphany-Making Crowns For The Kings

Pre School had a wonderful time in R.E. this week learning all about Epiphany! I was so impressed with how well the children remembered the three special gifts brought to baby Jesus—Gold, Frankincense, and Myrrh. The classroom was a sea of glitter and gold as the children got busy at the workshop table making their very own crowns. They’ve done such a lovely job that we’ve put them all on display around our Spirituality board for everyone to see!

Pre-School-Maths-Take And Give 123

We’ve had some hungry wolves and very helpful mathematicians in class this week! To help Little Red Riding Hood get to Grandma’s house, the children have been practicing adding and taking away 1, 2, or 3 items from her basket. They did a brilliant job counting as they added treats for Grandma and calculating the total when a few items were 'removed' along the way! It was a great way to bring our math's learning to life through our story of the week.

What a blast! Last week, Nursery and Pre-school took their festive trip to the Temple of Fun, and the children absolutely loved exploring the play centre! They were little adventurers, climbing and crawling their way through the equipment and really putting those gross motor skills to the test. It was great to see them tackle every challenge with confidence, demonstrating a brilliant growth mindset. A huge success and fantastic fun for all our little explorers!

Pre-School-Decorating The Christmas Tree-Gross And Fine Motor Skills

We officially kicked off the festive season today by decorating our classroom Christmas tree! The children absolutely loved getting into the Christmas spirit. This wasn't just fun, though—it was a fantastic workout for their physical skills: Gross Motor Skills: The children used their large muscle groups, stretching high onto their tiptoes and reaching their arms wide to carefully wrap the tinsel around the whole tree. Fine Motor Skills: Great care and concentration were needed to grasp the delicate baubles, unhook the small metal hangers, and carefully place them onto the tree branches without dropping them! It was wonderful to see their teamwork and excitement as they transformed our classroom into a winter wonderland! They did an amazing job!

Pre-School-Our Nativity Performance

What an absolutely wonderful treat we had! Our brilliant pre-school and nursery children performed their annual Nativity play, and we could not be more proud. They were all so confident and amazing standing up in front of all the grown-ups, telling the Christmas story with such enthusiasm and charm. Every single child remembered their lines, sang their hearts out, and truly brought the magic of Christmas to life!

Pre-School-Literacy-Story Map

In literacy, we’ve been enjoying We’re Going on a Bear Hunt. The children worked together to create a story map, marking out the key events from beginning to end. Everyone added their own part, drawing the moment they remembered came next in the story. They were completely absorbed in the task, and it sparked lots of rich vocabulary. I was really impressed with how much they could recall.

Pre-School- P.E-Ball Skills

In P.E. last week, the children were practising their throwing skills. They worked in pairs, with one child holding a hoop as a target and the other pretending their ball was a snowball to throw through it. They had a great time and worked really well with their partners. Lovely teamwork all round.

Pre-School English Sensory Story Telling

Our literacy focus this week was We're Going on a Bear Hunt. We conducted a sensory storytelling session where children engaged their sense of touch by exploring trays set up with materials representing parts of the story. These included long wavy grass, thick oozy mud, sticks and leaves for the forest, and melting ice for the snowstorm. The children were highly engaged throughout, especially enjoying the sensory experience of climbing under the dark table to enter the cave.

Pre-School-Maths-Comparing and sorting.

Today we had a bear-y special time playing with hoops and bears. It was so much fun to learn about "more," "fewer," and "the same"!First, we put our colourful hoops on the floor. Each bear was a different colour – red, blue, yellow, and green! We put some bears in one hoop and some bears in another. Then, we looked to see which hoop had more bears. That means a lot of bears! Which hoop had fewer bears? That means just a little bit. And sometimes, two hoops had the same number of bears! That means they were equal, just alike!

Online Safety - Tracking Devices

Tracking devices were designed to help people find lost belongings, but they’ve also opened the door to worrying forms of misuse. This week’s #WakeUpWednesday explores how Bluetooth trackers like AirTags and SmartTags can be misused for stalking, bullying and invading young people’s privacy.
