Pre-School-Literacy-Book Review
In Literacy this week, we have enjoyed exploring a range of books, reading together and sharing stories with our peers. The children chose their favourite book and wrote a book review, rating it to show whether they felt very happy with their chosen story or felt that it wasn’t for them. The children have really enjoyed exploring lots of different books and selecting a favourite to review.
Pre-School-Maths-Subitising
This week in Maths, we have been subitising up to 7. The children played a number of different games where they used their quick-thinking maths skills to subitise numbers and groups of objects from 1 to 7. The children loved using their quick-thinking skills and tested each other by holding up different numbers of fingers and quickly hiding them, allowing other children to subitise and give an answer.
Pre-School-Computing-Where Does Handa live?
In Computing in Preschool, we have been using Google Maps and Google Images to find out where Handa lives. The children loved using Google Maps to discover that Handa lives in Africa and to see where Africa is in the world. We used Google Images to look at villages in Africa, and the children were really engaged. They found it interesting to see how different our homes are compared to those of people living in huts in small villages in Africa.
Pre-School- Expressive Art And Design-Cutting Skills
At our workshop this week, we have been busy learning how to use scissors safely, practising how to hold them correctly and making snips in paper. Some of the children found this tricky at first but persevered and were able to make snips independently. The activity involved cutting out different fruits for Handa’s basket, linking to our story of the week, Handa’s Surprise.
Pre-School - Maths - Comparison
This week in Maths we played Supermarket Sweep ???? The children worked in pairs, collecting items when the bell rang and stopping when it rang again. Back on the carpet, they counted their items and compared who had more, fewer or the same. A fun, energetic way to practise counting and comparing numbers!
Pre-School - Literacy- Retelling Of Our Story - Little Red Riding Hood
Our classroom transformed into a theater this week! After diving into Little Red Riding Hood, the children took the lead and decided to bring the story to life using character masks. It was amazing to watch them retell the key events with such confidence. We even heard some fantastic "Big Bad Wolf" growls and "Grandma" voices as they fully embraced their roles! #EarlyYears #Literacy #RolePlay #LittleRedRidingHood #LearningThroughPlay
Pre-School-Physical Development-P.E-Gross motor
Our Preschoolers had a blast in P.E. last week! We’ve been working hard on our gross motor skills using the parachute and a ball. We started with a round of "Popcorn Pop"—everyone held the edge and worked together to make the ball bounce high and low like a kernel of corn! Then, we tested our reflexes with "Cat and Mouse," where one child sat in the middle trying to catch the ball as the rest of the group used the parachute to keep it moving. Lots of giggles and great teamwork all around! ???? #PreschoolPE #GrossMotorSkills #ActiveLearning #Teamwork #EarlyYears
Pre-School-Expressive Arts And Design-Making Puppets
Our workshop table has been a hub of creativity this week! To bring the story of Little Red Riding Hood to life, the children have been busy making puppets. It was wonderful to see them experimenting with different shapes to create the perfect hood and carefully drawing faces on their characters. These lolly-stick puppets are now ready to star in our very own puppet theater performances!

The children discussed what fruits might have been in grandma's basket from our story little red riding hood. The children used apple, banana, pear and carrot to dip in to paint to create their fruit print picture.
Pre-School-R.E-Epiphany-Making Crowns For The Kings
Pre School had a wonderful time in R.E. this week learning all about Epiphany! I was so impressed with how well the children remembered the three special gifts brought to baby Jesus—Gold, Frankincense, and Myrrh. The classroom was a sea of glitter and gold as the children got busy at the workshop table making their very own crowns. They’ve done such a lovely job that we’ve put them all on display around our Spirituality board for everyone to see!
Pre-School-Maths-Take And Give 123
We’ve had some hungry wolves and very helpful mathematicians in class this week! To help Little Red Riding Hood get to Grandma’s house, the children have been practicing adding and taking away 1, 2, or 3 items from her basket. They did a brilliant job counting as they added treats for Grandma and calculating the total when a few items were 'removed' along the way! It was a great way to bring our math's learning to life through our story of the week.
Pre-School-Trip-Temple Of Fun
What a blast! Last week, Nursery and Pre-school took their festive trip to the Temple of Fun, and the children absolutely loved exploring the play centre! They were little adventurers, climbing and crawling their way through the equipment and really putting those gross motor skills to the test. It was great to see them tackle every challenge with confidence, demonstrating a brilliant growth mindset. A huge success and fantastic fun for all our little explorers!
