Year 4 PSHE
Year 4 were lucky enough to have a visitor in our class, who gave us information and allowed us to feel comfortable with regards to the years of change that are in store for our boys and girls. Year 4 were fantastic in showing our visitor the respect and values of Darwen St. James' and were very sensible with the information that they received.
Year 4 Art
Year 4 have been studying different types of art displays, particularly statues that are displayed on plinths. We have created our our plinths and statues out of paper and card, and needed to solidify these items using paper-mache techniques. It was a very messy job, but lots of fun in the end!
Beached Themed Reading Cafe
Wow, what an incredible day we had at our beach-themed reading café! A massive thank you to everyone who joined us and made it such a fantastic success. It was truly wonderful to see so much fun, laughter, and, most importantly, a clear passion for books filling the room!
Year 4 Bold Venture Park!
On Wednesday, Year 4 walked to Bold Venture Park and had a fantastic day!! We were very excited to set off and walk to the park, passing lots of familiar places on our way! We enjoyed looking at the statue and plinth in front of the market - we had looked at this already in an art lesson, so it was great for us all to see it in person! We had a busy, but exciting day ahead of us.
Year 4 Maths
As part of our Maths Fluency, Year 4 have been recapping the 9 times table this week and have enjoyed playing a few different games in different table groups. It has definitely also helped with our 9 times table knowledge!
Year 4 P.E. Long Jump
Year 4 have been honing in their Long Jump skills in their Athletic P.E. lesson this week. They have tried to find out the best techniques to help them reach longer distances and have made some fantastic progress when bearing this in mind - well done everybody!
Year 4 English - Folktale Writing
Year 4 have enjoyed reading different folktales and have been busy this week putting all of their ideas together to create their own, based on the tale, 'Brer Fox and Brer Rabbit Go Hunting'. We are excited to hear all the mischievous antics these characters have gotten up to in our own creations!
Year 4 Assessment Week
Year 4 have put the best efforts into their assessments this week. We are thankful to have them all completed now!

Year 4 Computing - Effective Searching
Year 4 have been putting their information finding skills to the test, learning how to effectively search for facts using efficient questioning in Internet search engines. We have had to determine whether the information we find can be trusted, useful skills that can be helpful in many different situations!
