Year 4 - English - Group Reading

Year 4 have been completing some group reading activities in English this week. We have worked together to identify similar features across a variety of texts and to create success criteria in preparation for our own writing of an informative text. We've even managed to find answers to questions from these texts and create questions for each other to answer!

Year 4 English

Year 4 have been working hard this half-term in preparation for writing their very own nonfiction story and becoming real-life authors! They have edited, annotated and improved draft pieces of their writing to create a final version of text, that any reader will enjoy looking at. It was a hard task being an author, but the end result was definitely worth it - some fantastic stories have been created!

Nursery - Literacy - Learning New Vocabulary Linked To Our Story

This week, Nursery class have been reading a new story called 'Grow it!'. This means we have been able to explore some new vocabulary! We discovered some tricky, unfamiliar worlds like 'compost' and 'trowel' among others. Understanding and being familiar with these words enables children to comprehend the story and conversations surrounding the events in our book. Nursery class have done really well copying and remembering the new vocabulary and have also been able to find the pictures linked to the new words in our book. Well done everyone.

Nursery - Computing - Exploring The Garden Centre

Linked with our spring story 'Grow it!', the children have been exploring the garden centre on purplemash. Understanding a tap and drag movement to place different items into the garden. The children discovered many different plants, mini beasts and equipment that we have been learning about this week and were given the opportunity to put their new vocabulary knowledge into practice. The children observed the effects that the watering can had on the bulbs and seeds, watching the flowers grow once they had been watered, this was definitely the favorite feature!

The Benefits of Reading Every Day!

Pre-School- Pre Writing - Fine Motor Skills

In Preschool, the children have been developing their fine motor skills by creating their own versions of Jasper’s Beanstalk. They carefully selected cereal hoops and placed them over a wooden stick, stacking them to build taller beanstalks. This activity encouraged precision, concentration, and coordination. Fine motor skills involve the small muscles of the hands, fingers, and wrists, enabling movements such as grasping small objects, manipulating tools, writing, and buttoning clothes. Additionally, this activity supported hand-eye coordination, helping children refine their control and dexterity in a fun and engaging way.
