Pre-School- Physical Development - Fun in the Snow
Today in Pre-school the children have enjoyed fun in the snow. We made a mini snowman, we threw snowballs, laid in the snow to make snow angels using our arms moving them up and down and moving our legs in and out. We had lots of fun playing with our friends.
Year 3 Art - Discovering What I Can Do With Charcoal
In Art, Year 3 has been learning about Chiaroscuro, an Italian word meaning 'light-dark' and we looked at three pictures including Leonardo da Vinci's 'Saint John the Baptist'. They looked at how Cave people created pictures using burnt wood then created their own pictures with charcoal using light and dark marks.
Year 2 - English - Reading Playground Game Instructions
In English, we read some simple instructions for different playground games and had a go at playing them.
Pre-School-P.S.H.E- What Do Our Bodies Need?-Making Fruit Kebabs
Today Pre-school In P.S.H.E discussed what our bodies need to be healthy. The children told me that we need to eat lots of fruit and vegetables and drink only milk and water to keep our bodies healthy because pop and sweets have too much sugar in them. The children told me they need to exercise like running, jumping and doing our P.E lessons with Mrs Corbally.
Year 2 - PSHE - Fire Talk
This week we had some special visitors from the fire station who gave us a talk on fire safety at home. It was great fun!!
Year 2 - PE - Using Shapes To Create Balances
In PE we developed our Gymnastic skills by balancing with different shapes on the large apparatus.
Nursery - RE - Show And Tell: Recognising Family Members And Different Family Structures
During RE this week, Nursery class looked at our different families. We started by looking at a picture of baby Jesus and his family, the children noticed and named Mummy and Daddy in the picture and showed a good understanding of Jesus' immediate family. The children then got to show everybody their own family members! They took great joy in telling their friends about the pictures on the screen and naming who they could see. Some of our friends had really BIG families with lots of people and some of our friends had small families, we even had some pictures of fur-family members.
Year 3 History - Identifying Artifacts From The Stone Age.
In this week's History lesson Year 3 became archaeologists. They looked at pictures of different artifacts that were found buried in a Stone Age grave and gathered information answering the questions, What is it? What is it made from? What was it used for?
Year 3 Science - How Our Muscles Work
In Science Year 3 have been learning about the different muscles in our bodies. They looked at whether the heart, stomach, small intestines and biceps moved voluntarily or involuntarily. They made a model of an arm to show how the muscles contract and relax.
Year 6 Science - Changing the Size of a Shadow
This week in Science Year 6 have been investigating how to change the size of a shadow. After thinking about working scientifically and how to conduct a fair test, we performed an investigation to test against our predictions.
Year 5 Maths - Pizza Fractions
To introduce our Fractions topic in Maths, Year 5 enjoyed cutting some tasty pizza into halves, quarters and eighths, and identifying equivalent fractions. We then cut the second pizza into thirds and sixths and could tell that one third is equivalent to two sixths. We then enjoyed eating our pizza fractions!
Year 5 P.E. - Gymnastics
In P.E., Year 5 are learning some symmetrical and assymmetrical balances, travelling and jumps. We put our movements into some fantastic routines using the benches and each other!
