Year 5 Fluency - Fluent in 5 Arithmetic
Through daily Fluent in 5 arithmetic sessions, Year 5 are demonstrating impressive concentration as they strive for accuracy and consistently improve their scores. Well done Year 5!
Nursery - Maths - Big And Small
Nursery class were tasked with sorting a group of frogs by size! They were given two lily pads, one big and one small, ready for their frogs to jump onto. The children were encouraged to vocalise the size of each frog before allocating it to a corresponding lilypad. The children took different approaches during this activity, with some finding all of the small frogs first whereas other children picked up frogs at random and sorted them between big and small. The children enjoyed mimicking frog movements with the images, bouncing their frogs to the correct lily pads. Once all the frogs were sorted onto their lilypads, the children were challenged to count them! Nursery class tried really hard to number the frogs in sequence. Well done everyone!
Reception - Maths - Number Writing
Here's a post you could create about the image, perfect for sharing the wonderful world of Reception Maths! Look at these little superstars engaged in some fantastic Reception Maths! ✨ It warms my heart to see these young learners so focused and busy with their number writing and other maths activities. From carefully tracing numbers to exploring quantity, every little mark and dot represents a step forward in their mathematical journey. These hands-on activities are so crucial for building a strong foundation in maths, making learning fun and interactive. You can almost see the concentration on their faces as they explore the world of numbers! ✍️
Year 2 - Maths - Finding Three Quarters
Finding three-quarters is a fun adventure in Year 2 maths! Imagine you have a yummy pizza cut into four equal slices. To find three-quarters, you simply count out three of those slices. It's like taking a bite of one, then another, and then one more – you've enjoyed three out of the four equal parts! So, three-quarters means having three parts out of a whole that has been divided into four equal parts.
Year 5 Tuesday Carousel: Badminton, Arithmetic, Reading and SPAG!
The Year 5 curriculum on Tuesday afternoons incorporates a carousel of enriching activities designed to develop a range of skills, including physical literacy through badminton, numeracy through arithmetic practice, literacy through focused reading activities, and linguistic competence through the explicit teaching of spelling, grammar, and punctuation.
Reception - Maths - Numbers to 20
Look at the fantastic ways our Reception class is representing numbers up to 20! From the visual patterns of Numicon to building their own number staircases, ordering with precision, and understanding place value with ten frames – they're really bringing numbers to life!
Year 1 - Maths - Dividing By Sharing
Our Year 1 children have been busy developing their understanding of equal groups through the practical skill of sharing. They engaged in hands-on activities, learning how to divide objects fairly into equal sets. This important concept lays the foundation for future mathematical understanding. Well done, Year 1!
Nursery - Maths - Five Little Speckled Frogs
This week the children have shown high levels of engagement with the chia slime, exploring its texture with their hands, describing it as "slimy" and "squishy." When prompted to search for the hidden frogs, they demonstrated great observation skills, carefully moving aside the twigs, leaves and plants within the slime. As each frog was discovered, the children showed excitement and a developing understanding of object permanence. Upon finding a frog, most children were able to place it onto the designated log. As a group, they participated in singing "Five Little Speckled Frogs,". The children used some number language when counting the frogs, with some friends counting all of the frogs accurately.
Year 2 - Maths - Fractions
The Year 2 classroom was a hive of shape recognition today, with a focus on spotting fractions. Laid out before them were various shapes already divided into different numbers of equal parts. The children eagerly examined each one, their fingers tracing the dividing lines as they determined whether a shaded portion represented a half, a third, or a quarter of the whole.
Pre-school - Maths - Repeating Patterns
In Maths this week we have been learning all about repeat patterns. The children have had different opportunities to repeat a pattern using colours or shapes. The children repeated a pattern on the caterpillar using colours linked to our story 'The Very Hungry Caterpillar' and made repeating patterns using chalk to draw shapes in our outdoor provision and hop along shouting out their repeated pattern.
Year 4 Maths - Times Tables
Year 4 are becoming times-table whizzes! Each week, we focus on a different times table group, this week has been the 8 times table. Year 4 have loved singing along to the different songs and have even busted a few dance moves!
Reception - Maths - Building Numbers to 14
Today, our Reception children were busy becoming number experts! We practiced counting all the way to 20 — and back again — with lots of claps, jumps, and smiles along the way. Next, we used our clever ‘10 and _ more’ model to build numbers to 14. The children impressed us with how they grouped 10 and then added the extra ones — real maths superstars! To finish, we explored odd and even numbers, discovering which numbers like to pair up and which ones are left out. Such amazing thinking and teamwork today — Reception, you are maths champions!
